Brakes
Some of the most common problems associated with brakes are overworn pads, friction-warped rotors, depleted brake fluids, and bubbles in the hydraulic system. Like tire rotations and oil changes, it is recommended that vehicle owners have their brakes inspected every six months or 6,000 miles.
Common indicators of irregularities within the brake system are vibrations, loud squealings changes in pedal sensitivity, and a slight pull towards one side when the brakes are applied.
Belt and Hose Inspection
Due to their constant exposure to heat, vibration, and caustic fluids, the belts and hoses have the shortest lifespan of any of the engine's components. Regular inspections are crucial for spotting a problem before it poses a risk to vehicle performance.
Preventive maintenance for belts and hoses is an inexpensive procedure, although the damages resulting from a belt snapping or a hose bursting on the road are potentially quite costly.
Oil Changes
Regular oil changes are the single most important area of automobile maintenance. In most cases, a vehicle should have its oil changes every 6,000 miles and/or six months. JRF carries all the leading motor oil brands, including Pennzoil, Valvoline, Chevron, Innotec, Havoline, and Neo Synthetic.
Shocks and Struts
Shock absorbers and struts do more than just provide a comfortable ride: they are important for your vehicle's control and handling capabilities. Worn-out shocks and struts will not only cause a vehicle in motion to bump and shake, but can also reduce braking effectiveness and driver control.
Tune-ups
It is recommended that your vehicle undergo a major servicing every two years or 30,000 miles. Some of the procedures entailed by an average tune-up include fuel filter replacement, changing the spark plugs and examining the wiring, adjusting the engine valves, replacing the distributor cap and rotor, replacing worn belts, inspecting and switching out the air filter if necessary, and servicing the battery. The entire process is designed to keep your car on the road and supersede the need for major repairs.
Cooling System Services
A well-maintained cooling system is and important contribution to your vehicle's performance. Without it, the engine would likely melt into a fused metal blob under its own incredible heat. First and foremost, the coolant should be periodically flushed and refilled. In addition, JRF will test radiator pressure caps, inspect the system for leaks, test engine fans and thermostats, and power flush the system of sediment and accrued gunk.
Exhaust System
A well-functioning exhaust and muffler system conduces a running motor to emit a soft purr instead of an ear-splitting roar. But more importantly, it prevents harmful chemicals from seeping inside the car and being released into the atmosphere. Exhaust systems checks will help ensure that you and your passengers breathe easier both inside and outside your vehicle.
